Sorting and Classifying

Classifying means to put things into groups, as classes, orders, families, etc. One way to classify is to look for similarities, or ways things are alike.

Categorization is a group of things that are arranged by category.

The activity of classifying can help students remember what they read.

Example: Below, the following things are sorted according to whether it is edible or not. The things are placed into two categories.
