Statistics is the mathematical science of collecting, organizing, and analyzing, and interpret data. The data is usually collected from an experiment, a survey, a historical record, etc. Statistic is necessary and useful in everyday life. The data collected can help you understand situations, define and solve problems.
For example:
Data can tell us that there 55% of girls in Mr. Gomez’s class.
In statistics we often rely on a sample, a small subset of a larger set of data, to draw inference about the larger set (the population).
Everyday we come across a graph and statistics, such as advertising.
