Basic Computation 2

Four basic operations of arithmetic are addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Basic Multiplication

Multiplication of numbers can be thought of repeated addition.

Example: 2 and 2 and 2 is 6 | 2 + 2 + 2 = 6 | 2 x 3 = 6

Above, the same number is repeated three times. This can be shown as addition or multiplication. Thus we can solve repeated addition problems this way.

Basic Division

The symbols used for division are : / ÷

The ÷ symbol will be used in this exercise.

Division of two natural numbers is the act of calculating the number of times one number is contained within another.

Example: there are 2 groups of 2 in the number 8 | 8 ÷ 2 = 4
