Personal and Social Development

This section will cover the readings and activities that will help children improve their awareness of the world around them and so help them create an identity that would help them realize their dreams and aspirations. Even though personal and social development takes place over the course of one’s life, the child will get much from theses lessons.

The Print and Literacy Environment

One aspect children develop is through the environment of print, words, and graphic symbols. Children in such an environment learn to observe, read, discuss and copy the signs and symbols in their small world. The begin to understand the purpose of the prints and symbols around them. Therefore, a good idea is to have children copy the words on paper, spell the words they enjoy saying and draw symbolic ideas on a paper.
